"Sent : Friday, April 9, 2004 4:38 AM Subject : Life at Casa Joaquina Hi Deb, Just a quick note to let you know that we are very much enjoying our week here. The cottage is delightful and very comfortable. Thankyou for your and Austin's thoughtfulness. Amalia Rodrigues is singing as I type. Each day we have been having our breakfast up on the rooftop terrace enjoying the view. Today, although a little chilly was particularly pleasant because, being Good Friday, it is so quiet - the silence only being broken by the church bells. Every day we marvel at life in Portugal in April. They days have been superb. We are enjoying our ventures to Belem, Cascais, the Expo 98 site outside Oriente metro station. We visited the little church in Rua Sant' Ana. The 188 steps up to the house are making us very fit. We have only travelled the funiclar once. And we've still got three and half days to go! We've plans for the Alfama market tomorrow and Sintra on Sunday. All the very best. Joan and Andy"
